Lisa Marie Jakab

Lisa Marie Jakab received her Master of Fine Arts Degree with Distinction at American University in May of 2013.  She received her BFA, Magna Cum Laude, from Alfred University and also studied at the University of Sydney in Australia. Spring of 2014, Jakab spent participating in a residency at BUNKER Projects in Pittsburgh, PA.  Other Artist-in- Residence programs she has attended include: GlogauAIR in Berlin (2013), Chautauqua Institution (2010-11), and Art Students League of New York (2011). Jakab has exhibited in New York, Berlin, Washington D.C., Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Arlington, Columbus, and Sydney.  Lisa Marie Jakab creates abstract imagery about liminal spaces using biomorphic forms informed by nature and the cosmos. Generating her own interpretation of beautiful imagery, she explores the psychology of cognition. Her process of making is reflective of these interests and resides in the play between fragility and force as well as the purposeful and the accidental.
