Amanda Scuglia

Amanda Scuglia uses traditional mediums of oil painting and printmaking to examine our intuitive and spiritual relationship to nature. Drawing from life and painting en plein air are integral parts of her practice. She received her MFA in 2013 from the New York Academy of Art, where she studied anatomy and figurative art, and was given the David Kratz & Gregory Unis scholarship of merit. She has been awarded a number of artist residencies including the Terra Foundation of American Art in Europe located in Giverny, France (2012), Altos de Chavon, Dominican Republic (2013), and the Eric Fischl Teaching Residency at West Nottingham Academy in Maryland (2015). She also teaches figure drawing in public workshops and private lessons. Amanda has lived and worked in New York City for the past decade, but recently relocated to her hometown of Pittsburgh, PA.
