Tim Engelhardt
Tim Engelhardt is a Pittsburgh based artist and muralist working in a variety of mediums including charcoal, acrylics and oils. In 1999 Tim moved to Pittsburgh from Louisville, KY to study at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and in 2002 received an Associate Degree in Graphic Design. For the next 12 years, he worked as a graphic designer. In 2014 Tim set out to pursue a career as a professional artist.
Tim’s work reflects his struggles with addiction, mental health and insecurity. His work is emotional, bold and complex while often appearing simple. He considers himself an abstract expressionist influenced by many of the artists of the movement in New York in the 40’s and 50’ as well as the movements in art coming out of Paris in the post WWI era.
In 2015, Tim was juried into the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society. He has had pieces in the 2016 and 2017 Members shows. In 2017 he was juried into the Pittsburgh Society of Artists. When not in his studio, Tim spends his time working on murals for communities and businesses throughout Allegheny County, Nevada and Virginia.
