Tom Sarver
“After many years of creating public art events, site-specific installations and puppetry works, I’m heading in a new direction as I begin work in the studio at Radiant Hall West. I’ve begun a series of paintings; memories from my life and the projects I’ve been involved in since the late 1990’s in Pittsburgh. My mind is filled with vibrant images from these experiences, and I feel compelled to paint them. As I look to the past with my paintings, I’m also documenting the present through a series of plein-air drawings, depicting scenes throughout the city, ranging from energetic landmarks to mundane, forgotten corners. The drawings and paintings meander on separate paths, sometimes converging in a play of perception, memory, and interpretation.”
